Lanni is from a Hawaiian musical family, son of Tau Moe and Lissi Petersen, the once lead singer of the 50's pop band Malihini Hawaiians.
Lanni and his sisters Lupe Moe and Lei Moe formed the group Skunk Funk (3).
Lanni is also uncle to Joey Moe.
