Thomas Schmitt

German audio technician and multi-instrumentalist, mainly violinist, from Marburg in the Krautrock era. He was born February 14, 1950.
He was co-founder of Symphonic Rock band Pell Mell and became bandleader, their vocalist and guitarist. His signature instrument was the violin, his nickname was The devil's violinist [German: Der Teufelsgeiger]. He stayed bandleader until 1980. Then, Pell Mell went for one year on hiatus and Schmitt founded a contemporary group called Skyrider, where he again met former bandmate Otto Pusch.
In 1981, he was part of the supergroup Otto Pusch and he restarted Pell for a last album and a last tour. In late 1981, he gave up Pell Mell also due to healthy reasons. He had to give up playing violin by physicl reasons.
