He was active in the jazz and disco music scenes of the 1970s, charting mostly on the dance charts.
Hot Butterfly hit #8 dance and Dance Little Dreamer by Bionic Boogie, a band Diamond started, reached #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart in 1978 (and #105 overall). They also hit with Risky Changes, which hit #78 on the R&B chart in 1978. The song Cream (Always Rises to the Top) reached #61 in the UK Singles Chart in January 1979. Tiger Tiger (Feel Good for a While) hit #33 on the dance chart in 1980. All of these songs were by Bionic Boogie and all written by Diamond.
He also charted as a solo artist with his own compositions: Star Cruiser , #7 dance in 1978, #57 R&B, and #103 overall. Danger hit #29 dance the next year on the dance charts.
