American bass vocalist, arranger, choral director and bandleader.
Born April 29, 1923 in USA.
Died January 5, 1979 (aged 55) in Summit, New Jersey, USA.
Married to choral director/singer Betty Joyce. Their children, who sang in many of their groups include Jon Joyce, Bob Joyce, and David Joyce.
Beginning in the 1940's, Joyce sang as part of The Blue Reys and worked as an arranger for Alvino Rey. Joyce started the group The Smart Set in 1958, auditioning Hollywood's top vocalists to find the blend he wanted.
In the early 1960's he organized the Jimmy Joyce Singers. They recorded with Frank Sinatra among many others. This choral group were also regulars on Red Skelton's TV show.
Joyce also dubbed voices for some movies including Stephen Boyd's singing voice in 1962's Billy Rose's Jumbo.
