British classical double bassist and teacher. Born in 1948 in Manchester, England, UK - Died 16 June 2019.
At the age of 19, he was appointed Sub-Principal of the Ulster Orchestra and two years later became Principal Double Bass with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. He then played with the London Symphony Orchestra (Co-Principal Double Bass, 1978-1988) after which, in 1992, he was appointed Principal Double Bass with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. He also found time to play with The Academy Of St. Martin-in-the-Fields. When Cantilena was re-formed in 2001, he became their resident bassist. He retired to Scotland in 2012.
