Jazz bassist, (born September 24, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana, died February 6, 2010 in Inglewood, California.) Brinkley recorded ESP, and Black Jazz Records. He appeared on Soul Train with the Crusaders, and toured extensively with Freddie Hubbard during the 1970s.
He played with many of the great Indiana Avenue jazz masters, including David Baker, Erroll Grandy, Willis Kirk, Jimmy Coe, Monk Montgomery, and many others.
Brinkley also worked with Art Blakey, Roy Ayers, Hugh Masekela, Miriam Makeba, Letta Mbulu, Patrice Rushen, Nancy Wilson, Gabor Szabo, Willie Bobo, Pharoah Sanders, and many more.
