American vocalist and producer primarily associated with the music industry in Nashville.

He was known for his deep bass voice and sang in numerous vocal groups. He was instrumental in getting live coverage of gospel music on the Grand Ole Opry and other cable television broadcasts. Wanting to get off the road, Herman left his role with the Oak Ridge Boys in December of 1968 and began working with the first ever booking agency in gospel music Don Light Talent, who represented the group at the time.
He is the founder of the Gospel Music Trust Fund and he created the Harper and Associates (now called The Harper Agency)--a leading Southern Gospel talent agency in 1985. In 1997, he was posthumously inducted into the Southern Gospel Singers Hall of Fame.
