The Shining Path was formed by Dave Hoops McGraw Maltby, ex-drummer of the funk-metal band Dog Eat Dog, and Dog collaborator Darryl Jenifer, bassist of the legendary hardcore/reggae outfit Bad Brains. Together with guitarist Chip Love and vocalist Danny Ilchuk, the Shining Path released their self-titled debut in 1998, an ambitious concept album dealing with the Vietnam War.
