His early career was mainly as a voice actor on radio broadcasts, Fernandez later went on to become involved with numerous English adaptations of foreign films and anime series such as Astro Boy and Speed Racer.

Fernandez wrote the English version of the theme song for Speed Racer, which he also acted, co-wrote and voice-directed on.
