British pop singer and actor. Born Michael James Cox, 19 March 1940, in Liverpool, Lancashire. Recorded for Decca, Pye, HMV, Parlophone and Joe Meek's Triumph label in the 60s.
Cox co-wrote the song 'Along Came Caroline' with Geoff Stephens but used his grandfather's surname, Steele, as an alias.
