Growing up in the mountains of East Tennessee with mountain music, Kody began his musical journey around the age of nine singing in local churches. It was during this time that a love for the bluegrass developed. By the age of ten, he was learing to play mandolin, guitar, banjo, and bass. From the age of 15, Kody pursued his interest in the music business: working as a sideman and studio musician, teaching music lessons, and serving as an emcee. Being a multi-instrumentalist and versatile singer opened doors to many opportunities including playing with Ralph Stanley, Ralph Stanley II, and Melvin Goins. A chance meeting with Campbell Mercer, executive producer of the Cumberland Highlander’s Show on the RFD-TV network, led to a 9-year stint for Kody playing guitar on that show.

At the age of 18, he decided to form his own band and try his hand as a bandleader. Now billed as The Kody Norris Show, they travel approximately 46 weeks per year and appear at music events across the nation. Always maintaining a sharp professional appearance, complete with colorful rhinestone suits and cowboy hats, The Kody Norris Show gives a bluegrass fan one of the most solid, entertaining and animated performances they will ever experience.
