Gloria Jones graduated from Castlemont High School, Oakland, CA, in 1963 and studied to become a beautician. She was a member of several small gospel groups before joining The Jerry Garcia Band. She returned to singing with church groups after she left the band, continuing to perform at private church events and with the choir.
