A&R executive. He is the first Pakistani-American and the first Muslim-American to lead a major U.S. recording label.

He got his start in the music industry through an undergraduate internship during his time at Rutgers. In 2004 he began working as an assistant in the A&R department at Universal Motown Records Group before moving over to Republic Records. He joined Columbia Records in 2013 as VP of A&R, and became Co-CEO of Universal Music Group‘s Island Records, effective Jan. 1, 2022 (alongside Justin Eshak).
