Swedish singing group active during the years 1946–1964.
The group initially consisted of Brita Borg, Allan Johansson, Bengt Elmberg and Gunnar Siljabloo Nilson. When they started working for Knäppupp in 1952, the latter two were replaced by Oscar Rundqvist and Karl-Olof Finnberg. In 1954, the latter was replaced by Tosse Bark, Brita Borg's friend from the Vårat gäng era.
They initially called themselves Allan Johansson's singing quartet. The name Flickery Flies was born in Radiotjänst's youth program Fönstret in 1946, and was given by a radio listener in a listening contest. They performed in Povel Ramel's musical comedy program on the radio, Föreningen för flughigetens främände. The group then participated in most of the Knäppupp revues with songs written by Povel Ramel, but also made radio and folk park appearances and recorded albums with other songs.
Their hallmark was a musically confident vocal range for alto (Borg), bass (Rundqvist) and tenor/baritone (Johansson and Bark). The arrangements and singing style had many features of Glenn Miller's singing group The Modernaires and Tommy Dorsey's The Pied Pipers, vocal groups that were very popular in the 1940s.
The group has sung, among other things, Samba Augusta, Istanbul/Konstantinopel, Hey-bop-a-ree-bop, Fars Fabrik, The Doodelidotts, Jazz Me Blues, Gärdebylåten, Calle Schewens vals and Gå i kloster Brita!.
