Nami debuted in 1986 after winning the Momoco talent contest. She broke the top ten with Uchiki na Cupid, and her hits garnered her a sizable following. Later in her career, she wrote some lyrics for her own albums, including her last single Motto... Zutto... I Love You. Her last song was on the soundtrack for City Hunter '91. After retiring from her idol career in 1990, she has been working as a DJ and writer.
