American composer, musician, percussionist, drummer, keyboardist, performance artist, video artist, actor and tutor, born on April 21, 1955, in Washington, DC. He was raised in New Jersey, educated in Manhattan and has been living in New York since. He has worked with a whole series of musicians, and made music and sound designs for Broadway & Off Broadway productions. With his wife, the artist Cate Woodruff, he has one daughter, actress & writer Zoe Van Tieghem. David Van Tieghem himself is the son of artist & designer Richard F. Van Tieghem and of artist & educator Joan Ruth Stumpf.
