In the early 1970s, Dani Sanderson wrote Poogi Opera, a captivating Israeli rock opera. Although the full production remained shelved, select songs and snippets emerged, gaining recognition. Centered around Poogi, a character returning from Japan laden with gifts, the narrative delves into the superficial interests of her friends, fixated on the value of her souvenirs, rather than her experiences.

Recorded on a humble home tape recorder in Sanderson's Savion residence, the opera's potential caught the attention of Avraham Pashanel. His suggestion to disassemble the opera into standalone songs sparked a fruitful collaboration with the Kaveret band. Tracks like We Didn't Know What to Do, Nice, The Dog's Buried Here, and The Price List Song found their way into the band's performances and albums, garnering widespread acclaim.

Despite its delayed release, Poogi Stories made its organized recording debut in 2013, thanks to Yoav Kutner's airing on Despite Everything. Subsequently, the recording found a home in the Kaveret in a Box box set, coinciding with reunion performances.

All compositions within Poogi Opera written by Sanderson, with the exception of We Didn't Know What to Do, which also featured Ephraim Shamir's talent.

The ensemble behind the music featured Alon Olearczyk on bass guitar, Dani Sanderson on guitar and piano, Ephraim Shamir on acoustic guitar, Meir Fenigstein and David Shanan on drums and percussion. Later, Yitzhak Klepter and Yoni Richter enriched the lineup with their contributions.
