He has worked extensively on music for film and television, as well as multimedia projects and live theatre productions. His embrace of modern technology coincided with the development of the Synclavier. Ellis has composed, orchestrated, and performed on numerous motion picture and television soundtracks, collaborating with composers Jack Nitzsche, Harry Greggson-Williams, J. Peter Robinson, Michael Hoenig and Joseph Vitarelli to name a few.
