George Daly

George Daly is a music executive, songwriter, musician, video and music producer, film director and inventor.

He plays multiple instruments including guitar, electric bass and keyboards. He founded several bands, beginning with The Hangmen where on these early albums his credits list Rhythm Guitar, Organ, and Vibraphone. He also founded local DC band Dolphin in 1967 (signed by [l27031]) and Grin in 1968 with Nils Lofgren, though he left Grin early on and was replaced by Bob Berberich.

Daly is an accomplished song writer. One of his most well known songs is Slow Dancer co-written with Boz Scaggs. Daly has also worked with Huey Lewis, Carlos Santana, Alice Coltrane, and others.

Daly has also been a senior executive at divisions of four major U.S. record labels (Columbia, Elektra/Asylum/Atlantic/BMG), and is currently the CEO of About Records, a label distributed by Universal Music Group/UMG/Fontana.

Daly holds six US patents for audio and musical devices. His inventions include an early electrical guitar processor, the “Moan Tone,” which was used by Nils Lofgren and others and the “Master Mount” recording studio device which was later sold to Tandy Corp.
