Record Collector / Producer who based himself in Hollywood / LA, and Leeds, England, it is thought he was originally from Morocco. Started out in the early 1970s with his record labels Soul Fox Records and Soul Galore and his production company [l1’38]. These labels specialised in Northern Soul rarities for the burgeoning UK market of the time. A controversial character on the scene as they were unofficial releases with none of the profits going to the artists. By 1976 he teamed up with UK based Northern Soul DJ Ian Dewhirst. Dewhirst and Soussan collaborated on co-producing a Disco record – a medley of old Motown tunes which was eventually called “Uptown Festival” with the name Shalamar given to the studio group. Simon Soussan acquired one copy of the two known copies of Do I Love You (Indeed I Do) from Tom DiePerro at Motown in L.A. a Motown historian who received the single for research purposes. The record later sold in excess of £25,000. Soussan worked on the film Thank God It’s Friday starring Jeff Goldblum.
