Edwin and Arno Konings are amongst the world’s foremost funk and soul researchers. Having befriended Sly Stone in the 2000s, the passion and credibility of these Dutch brothers for his work has done much to preserve the musician's legacy. As writers, researchers and collectors, the duo have contributed to or supervised several archival Sly collections on labels such as Regrooved, Sony, Ace, Light in the Attic, and co-produced Live at the Winchester Cathedral 1967, released by High Moon Records. Amongst other documentary work, the Konings served as historical consultants for the recent acclaimed film by Questlove, Sly Lives! The Burden Of Black Genius. Crucially, they supported Sly’s lawsuit against ex-manager Jerry Goldstein over withheld royalties, providing key documents to allow him to prevail.
