In 2005, a year after he had dismissed her as his manager, Cohen sued Lynch in Los Angeles County superior court, claiming she had stolen $5 million from his personal accounts and investments while he lived at the Mount Baldy Zen monastery. In 2006, the court found in his favor and ordered Lynch to pay him $9.5 million.
In 2012, Lynch was sentenced to 18 months in Los Angeles County jail and five years probation for what the sentencing judge, Robert C Vanderet, called a long, unrelenting barrage of harassing behavior towards Cohen.
