Turkish guitar player, songwriter & arranger. Brother of Uğur Başar. Born 13. 03. 1944, Ankara, Turkey, died: 05. 02. 2001, İstanbul, Turkey. He started his musical life in 1964 with a non-professional group called Mete ve Metinler, going pro the following year joining Şerif Yüzbaşıoğlu’s orchestra. In 1968, Başar became a member of Durul Gence 5, finally founding his own orchestra İstanbul Gelişim Orkestrası in 1969. In 1984, he was the composer and conductor of Turkey’s Eurovision Song Contest entry.
