Kuroyume (黒夢) is a punk rock duo from Japan.
Originally a visual kei band, they were founded by vocalist
清春, guitarist
臣, bassist
Hitoki and drummer Eiki (鋭葵) in 1991. Eiki left the band in 1992 and was replaced by HIRO in June 1993. However, since HIRO left after three months all following drummers of Kuroyume were hired just as session musicians.
Kuroyume eventually debuted as a major band with EMI in early 1994, but
臣 left on February 15th, 1995. Since then Kuroyume went on as a duo made of
清春 and bassist
Hitoki.
Kuyorume went on hiatus on January 29th, 1999, after
Hitoki decided to leave. Exactly ten years after that, Kuyorume (including
Hitoki) resumed activities for one night with a concert at Nippon Budoukan and formally disbanded. Despite this,
清春 announced in early 2010 that Kuroyume have been reformed with new members and that they were recording new material.
Kyo of
DIR EN GREY fame was a roadie for this band on four occasions in 1993.
