Herbert Ward




The Prague Symphony Orchestra

American classical and jazz contrabassist and composer, who lived and performed in Czechoslovakia from the mid-1950s until the early 1960s. Husband of vocalist and dancer Jacqueline Ward.
As an American “political refugee”, in the 1950s Ward had a significant influence on the Czechoslovak communist authorities concerning the acceptance of jazz music as an art form in Czechoslovakia.
