Brief history - Headwaiter were a progressive rock group formed by
Doug Ferguson and
Tony Leach following Ferguson's recent departure from
Camel during early 1977, starting out as a writing project. The band recorded a series of demos under the lineup Ferguson, Leach,
Sev Lewkowicz,
James MacMillan Kean, and
Dave Bidwell on Drums. Bidwell soon disappeared so
Sandy Davis (Gracious) and
Greg Terry-Short would both join on drum kits. Sandy expressed he spent more time singing backing vocals and playing around on keys rather than playing drums full time, he also contributed writing.
Andrew Latimer would show up to some rehearsals and played live with the band during which time
Camel weren't recording or touring. The band eventually disbanded September 1978 after failing to acquire a record deal.
