Australian manager and graphic artist, best known as long-term manager of Silverchair.
Born in Townsville, he was first musician in independent bands and working at a local record store. He started to write for the [l19286]-magazine in the end of the 1980's and also did some other music related jobs. In 1991, he became A&R manager for [l25487], responsible for Australian artists. He signed Silverchair in 1995, which let him found his own management company John Watson Management. Later, he also joined [l22579], where he is currently still president.
Remarkably, Watson includes artwork tasks in his management. He started early to illustrate record covers. Together with colleagues of his management company, he received the ARIA award for best cover art for the Silver chair album 'Freak Show' in 1997.
