Maxee was the primary alias of American singer-songwriter Charmayne Maxwell (1969—2015), best known for her work with Grammy-nominated R&B trio Brownstone in the 1990s (and after the band's reunion in 2007). She had a brief solo career in the UK, with Maxee's debut single, [m=194106] released by Mercury in 2000, reaching number 55 on the UK Singles Chart. The follow-up single [m=194105] never charted, and Mercury canceled her planned album. Charmayne Maxwell died in a freak accident at forty-six — she fell at her LA home holding a wine glass that shattered and cut her throat.
