Combined a career as one of New Orleans' leading surgeons with a deep interest in New Orleans music, writing for periodicals such as Jazz and Jazz Report, and compiled the book New Orleans Jazz: A Family Album (1967). Grandfather of John Parker. Teacher of John Chaffe.
