Joyce Macek is a rock singer - songwriter - producer from the USA.

Joyce, originally from Rhode Island, began her professional career in 1969 with the role of “Crissy” in both the Boston production and the road tour of “Hair” where she met her husband, Les Carlsen who had been in the Seattle company.

Starting in 1972, Joyce played the club circuit with an all-girl nightclub act called “Babs and the Doolangs” for a couple of years before joining Les to put together a band, Willow in 1975.

Carlsen-Macek followed and they played clubs and concerts along the West Coast. They recorded 3 albums which landed them a featured spot in a 6-show syndicated series in Italy. Les and Joyce shared the stage with bands such as Heart, The Beach Boys, Three Dog Night, BB King, Cliff Richards, Quit Riot, and Steppenwolf.

Joyce discovered new talents as the tour manager and lighting director for Les’s heavy metal Christian band, Bloodgood. She also sang background, wrote two songs and appeared in the Bloodgood DVD production. When Bloodgood wasn’t on tour, Joyce and Les led worship at a small church in Seattle and she hosted a Christian music video show on local cable.

In 1988, Joyce appeared as a dancer in the movie, “Salsa” and also wrote a song for the same movie which she performed as a duet with Bobby Caldwell. Other credits include - background dancer in a Cher video and roles in various community theater and church productions. She has just retired from her 20-year position as the Children’s Ministry Pastor at Water of Life Community Church.

She occasionally plays with The Fabulous Topics, a rock revival band which began in 1965, with her husband in the band.
