Mark Ellerbee was an American drummer, born in Tallahassee, Florida in 1942. He was a graduate of Leon High School, class of 1960, and went on to earn a degree in Music from Florida State University in 1964. Mark was a Vietnam veteran of the US Army, serving as a company medic, an area he would be working in later in life (Department of Disability Determination for the State of Florida). In 1959, Mark's music career started in Tallahassee with
The Casuals, now known as
The Chaotics. In 1969 he joined the
The Oak Ridge Boys as their drummer, and also played on the only, selftitled concept rock album with
After All, long since seen as an early classic in progressive rock. He played with The Oak Ridge Boys until 1981, and returned to Tallahassee playing with various bands, eventually rejoining the Chaotics. When he turned sick, he finally left The Chaotics in October 2012.
Mark Ellerbie died Sept. 21, 2013 at Big Bend Hospice, Tennesse, aged 71.
