Italian baritone, born 14 September 1876 in San Colombano al Lambro, Italy and died 6 July 1937 in Milan, Italy.
Badini studied at the Milan Conservatory and later the Buffo roles with the pedagogue Cesari. He made his debut in 1896 at the Teatro Gaffurioin Lodi as Matteo in ‘’Fra Diavolo’’. Around the turn of the 20th century, Badini had success on the leading Italian stages, above all at La Scala and, after 1915 at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome. He sang in 1913 at La Scala as Ford in ‘’Falstaff’’. Beginning in 1911 he was featured at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo. From 1914 to 1934 he guested at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. He was appreciated in South America where he sang regularly, in 1910 he performed at the Teatro dell'Opera in Buenos Aires in Puccini’s ‘’Boheme’’ as Marcello. In 1920, 1926 and 1927 he appeared at Covent Garden; where he sang in 1920 the title role in the premiere of Puccini’s ‘’Gianni Schicchi’’. He also played the same part in 1922 at the premiere of the opera at La Scala. He sang in 1921 at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome in the premiere of Mascagni’s ‘’Il piccolo of Marat’’ (2.5.1921), on 20.12.1924 at La Scala in the premiere of Giordano’s ‘’La cena della beffe’’, on 29.12.1927 in ‘’Sly’’ of Wolf-Ferrari. He appeared up to his death regularly at La Scala. In 1929 and 1931 he performed at the festival of Verona. He continued to appear on stage until his death.
