The Jacka (born August 12, 1977, Pittsburg, California, USA – died February 2, 2015, Oakland, California, USA) was an American rapper from Pittsburg, California. Born
Dominick Newton, he converted to Islam at a young age and changed his name to
Shaheed Akbar. He started his career as one of
C-Bo's
Mob Figaz (along with
Rydah J. Klyde,
Husalah,
Fed-X, and
AP9). The group's first album C-bo's Mob Figaz, was released in 1999, which sold over 160,000 units independently. Since then The Jacka released two solo albums: The Jacka (2001) and The Jack Artist (2005). He also owned his own label The Artist Records. On the evening of February 2, 2015 The Jacka was gunned down in Oakland, California.
