Brazilian guitarist. Born in Jacarezinho in 1941, at the age of 6 Messias learned music theory and drum from his father, a guitar teacher and a percussionist. For about three years he took part, as guitarist and singer, in a dance-music group called Cry Babies. Then moved to San Paulo, where performed in local nightclubs and gradually became very popular, so that he was contracted by [l46336] which in 1964 released his first compact Sem Bossa, then by RCA Brazil, which released Messias’s first LP (Messias E A Musica De Chico Buarque De Hollanda). With his full name he mostly worked as a composer-arranger (see Messias Santos Jr.). He died in 1985 in a car accident.
