American Euro House/Italodance artist, born 9 February 1975 in Buffalo, US.
Her family environment helped instill in her a love of music and art, so much so that she likes to describe her family as a musical group: since she was a child, Stephanie traveled with her family to sing gospel and folk music in prisons and churches. Stephanie has always strived to perfect her talent and has never given up on her dream of becoming a singer.
At 18, Stephanie left her family to attend a renowned university and continue her studies in art, singing, and acting. After college, Stephanie moved to New York, hoping to fulfill her dream of becoming an artist in the Big Apple. In New York, Stephanie performed, sometimes for free, in clubs and worked as a waitress at a renowned Italian restaurant to support herself. It was at this Italian restaurant that Roby Achilli, during one of his business trips, met Stephanie, who was introduced by mutual friends as a promising singer. Roby learned that that same evening, after work, Stephanie was performing at a club; Intrigued by the praise for this girl, he decided to go see her perform. Thus, quite by chance, contact with the Italian producer was born.
In 1995, Gayà's first single, titled Lovin' The Way and written by Marco Mazzantini, was ready for the market. It was arranged by the historic group Bliss Team and released in Italy on vinyl by J&Q Records, achieving considerable success.
In 1996, Sing Your Soul was released, a song released in Italy on both CD and vinyl, which was particularly successful, so much so that it was also issued in other countries, such as Mexico and Spain.
At the end of March 1998, a new song, It's Love, was released both as a CD single and as a 12-track mix, which also included a version created by the skilled hands of renowned Italian remixer Mario Fargetta. In a very short time, It's Love entered all the dance charts and reached the top of the official Italian sales charts. It's Love, a summer hit of 1998, was included on the best dance compilations, and the song was licensed worldwide.
In September, Gaya' returned to the studio, once again with Marco Mazzantini, to record the new single Shine On Me, which was released in Italy in December 1998. Shine On Me immediately received widespread acclaim: it was played on networks and radio stations, and the album confirmed Gaya's success. In just one week, Shine On Me reached number 9 in the official Italian sales charts.
On October 22, 1999, the single I Keep On Dreaming was released, along with its accompanying music video, produced by Motion Picture House. The single would become a staple of the 1999/2000 winter season; The song, again remixed by Fargetta, entered the dance charts and airplay on major networks from the very first days of its promotion.
In 1999, she also made her acting debut in the film Senza paura, in which she played herself.
But Gayà's most successful single, Never Meet, was released simultaneously with its music video in May 2000. The song, also written by Marco Mazzantini, was released on both a CD single and a vinyl mix, and included both dance versions, again by Mario Fargetta, and an alternative pop version, arranged by the group Bedroom Rockers.
The single quickly topped nearly all Italian dance charts, even climbing the pop charts, becoming a veritable summer hit. It was included in the All The Hits Now compilation album in the summer of 2000. Thanks to its success in Italy, it was released abroad, achieving equal success, topping the dance and pop charts in several countries.
In 2008, the song Never Meet was re-released in a Hard Dance Style version by the DJ team at the m2o radio station.
In 2014, fifteen years after the release of Never Meet, Gayà returned to the internet through its official Facebook, Google+, YouTube profiles, and its official website, curated by Mark C. Ratti in direct collaboration with Stephanie Haley, Marco Mazzantini (composer and arranger), and Paolo Moretti (manager).
