Swedish composer, sound artist, musician and scholar, born in 1955.

With a PhD in musicology, he holds the position of Professor of Composition at the Academy of Music and Drama, University of Gothenburg, the same university where he once started studies to become a music teacher. Eventually, he veered into composition, and after completing those studies, he has written for large orchestras and chamber music ensembles, as well as created sound art and electroacoustic music. Hultqvist was also one of the founders of the GAS-festival (Göteborg Art Sounds), serving as its director 1998-2004.
