English jazz drummer, born February 23, 1941 in London; died July 17, 2023 in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Martin began playing in 1955, making his first recordings in 1959. Recorded in New Orleans with Kid Sheik Colar 1963 and with Capt. John Handy and Percy Humphrey in 1966. He settled in Los Angeles in 1972, founding the Legends Of Jazz group, a band of elderly traditional jazz musicians, with which he toured extensively. He moved to New Orleans in 1984.
