The Black Cats is an Iranian rock band that originally was formed in Tehrān in the late 1960s by شهبال شب‌پره (Shahbal Shabpareh). In the 1990 the band was being reborn in Los Angeles as a pop group.

The original members are:
حسن شماعی‌زاده = Hassan Shamaizadeh
شب‌پره شهرام = Shahram Shabpareh
فرهاد مهراد = Farhad Mehrad
شهبال شب‌پره = Shahbal Shabpareh

While band members and singers changed frequently over the next two decades, شهبال شب‌پره (Shahbal Shabpareh) has consistently remained the group's manager and producer.
