After a concert with Joan Faulkner in 1983, Plesni Orkester RTV Ljubljana was renamed the Big Band RTV Ljubljana, although it had occasionally used this name before.
After the independence of Slovenia in 1991, Big Band RTV Ljubljana became Big Band RTV Slovenija.
