Malcolm Walker worked for EMI 1959-1965 as Classical Press Officer. He went to Gramophone Magazine as Assistant Editor in 1966 and was Editor 1972-1980. In 1980 he began working as Editor for the Gramophone LP and CD catalogue and continued in the Editorial Department until he left the magazine in 1989. He returned to EMI as a historical consultant until 2014 and is currently consultant to Warner Classics. He has compiled over 50 discographies in addition to articles on the classical recording industry.
