Born: December 12, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois. Died: February 23, 1997 in Daly City, California. A legendary jazz/fusion drummer, better known as Tony Williams by drummers around the world. Williams received most recognition for his fusion project The Tony Williams Lifetime band with John McLaughlin. He also was part of The Miles Davis Quintet in the 60s and did extensive touring with Herbie Hancock’s V.S.O.P band as well. He died of a heart attack after a gall bladder surgery in 1997, 51 years old.
