The band comprised of the five brothers Bobby, Cecil, Curtis, Friendly Jr. and Harry Womack. They were initially encouraged and formed as a gospel vocal quintet by their father/pastor Friendly Womack, Sr., until Sam Cooke later transformed them into a crossover R&B act known as the Valentinos.
