Batacumbele is a Puerto Rican group created in the eighties by the musical concerns of the percussionist from Santurce Angel Cachete Maldonado who gives free rein to a sound adhering to the modernity of the Irakere group and to the sound of the Van Van, but without stopping put traditional Borinquen rhythms on the agenda, such as the Bomba and the Plena. It is the fusion of jazz with African drums, Cuban santeros rites and a Caribbean sound.
