Early professional career based in New Zealand; first recorded on the [l209392] label and then on an early incarnation of the [l86712] label. Relocated to the United States in the 1950s. In the late 1950s to mid 1960s, she recorded major releases for [l654], [l157] and [l34488], working with arrangers Marty Paich, Mel Tormé, Nelson Riddle and others. Mother of saxophonist / arranger / band leader Matt Catingub.
