Alongside classical cello studies with Denise Cherret, Hugues Vincent learned jazz at the EDIM and the Montreuil Conservatory, obtained a degree in musicology and a Capès musique at the University of Paris 8 and trained in improvisation at the internship courses and master classes including Sophia Domancich, Didier Levallet, Régis Huby, Vincent Courtois, Ernst Reijseger, Barre Phillips, Joëlle Léandre...
