British classical viola player and teacher, born in 1953 in London, England.
He studied at the [l290263] from 1964 to 1974. He made his debut performance in 1979 with the
English Chamber Orchestra. He was a member of many ensembles including
The Nash Ensemble for more than 20 years, the
London Sinfonietta , the
Esterhazy Baryton Trio,
The Quartet Of London, Hausmusik (2) of London, and The London Chamber Orchestra. He has since played, recorded and toured as a soloist or chamber musician in many ensembles and has been invited to play as principal violist with many international orchestras. He has taught in the UK at the Royal College of Music, the [l527847], [l305416] and the [l459222]. He has been a professor at [l828138], and currently teaches at [l1936068] in Chicago and at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London.
He plays on the 1717 Montagnana viola, which once belonged to Tertis and Shore.
