Mareike Walter, born and raised in Dresden in 1981, studied communication design in Potsdam and has been self-employed since 2006. Her work focuses on typographic design, editorial, book and exhibition design. In addition to her work on the monitor, she also works with craft techniques such as lead typesetting and lino printing, which are incorporated into her illustrations. For her work Typorabic Berlin she was awarded silver by the Berlin Type Award and nominated for the German Design Award.
