American songwriter, percussionist and guitarist for Los Lobos and Latin Playboys. Born January 29, 1953 in Los Angeles, California. One of the founding members of Los Lobos in 1973.

Not to be confused with Louis Chickie Perez (a percussionist who played in the bands of Tito Puente and Eddie Palmieri) or with Lou Perez, the New York bandleader, composer and producer.
