Czech contemporary classical composer.

Born September 2, 1928 in Olomouc (former Czechoslovakia), died January 20, 1990 in Ostrava. His compositions were inspired by works of Leoš Janáček and Béla Bartók and by the orientation of the modal style of folk songs. He studied Romanian and African folklore. He also attempted a synthesis of classical, electronic and popular music genres.
