Fatty George’s band formed around 1951 in Innsbruck. 1955 Fatty moved with his sextet back to Vienna where they recorded a few LPs and 7 till they broke up in 1958. The band was of variable size and home for various Austrian jazz legends like
Joe Zawinul or
Roland Kovac. From 1958 onwards, the band was more a session band in Fatty George’s jazz club Fatty’s Saloon. After the closing of the club in 1963, Fatty continued to play in a younger and different line-up, living mostly in Berlin at the time. In 1967 the band stopped since Fatty George was now radio presenter and musician for the Austrian broadcasting organization [l34957].
